CHEATING CHEESEBURGER MACARONI

Cheating Cheeseburger Macaroni image

This is one of those happy accidents that happened when I had to make up dinner from what I had in the cabinet. It serves a whole family and the kids love it. I used a mixture of what was left in the bottom of the pasta boxes for the pasta. Any short pasta will work. Try adding broccoli, peas or carrots as a variation.

EASY CHEESEBURGER MAC

Easy Cheeseburger Mac image

From the Kraft website. Nothing fancy, but a tasty dressing up for boxed macaroni and cheese! It's also versatile. When I made it, I added 1/4 teaspoon or so of Montreal Steak seasoning. I also cooked a chopped onion along with the hamburger. You can use whatever seasoning you normally use when you make burgers to spice it up. Jalapenos are good in this as well.

Tips:

  • Use High-Quality Beef: Opt for lean ground beef with a fat content of 80-90% for a juicy and flavorful cheeseburger macaroni.
  • Season Aggressively: Don't be shy with the seasonings for both the beef and the macaroni. A combination of salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and chili powder works well for both components.
  • Cook the Beef Thoroughly: Make sure to cook the ground beef until it reaches an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C) to ensure it's safe to eat.
  • Use a Variety of Cheeses: A blend of cheddar, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheeses provides a rich and flavorful cheeseburger macaroni. Feel free to experiment with different cheese combinations.
  • Don't Overcook the Macaroni: Cook the macaroni according to the package instructions, but be careful not to overcook it, as it will continue to cook in the oven.
  • Top Generously with Cheese: Before baking, top the cheeseburger macaroni with a generous amount of shredded cheese for a golden and bubbly crust.
