We had this at Brennan's Wine Bar in St. Louis on Saturday night and loved it. Very simple, but I would have never thought to throw this together myself. It's sweet, savory, creamy and crunchy.. .we devoured it in no time flat!

Steps:
- Get out a nice square platter and 2 small bowls (which fit on the platter).
- Place goat cheese fanned out in one corner.
- Fan the manchego out on the opposite corner.
- Place jam/preserves in one bowl and place in an empty corner of the plate.
- Then mix the seeds together in the remaining bowl and place in the opposite corner.
- Feel free to garnish the plate with fresh berries and mint if you have some.
- Place crackers on another plate and serve!
- Guests will take 1 cracker, put 1 piece of cheese on it, spread a small amt of jam on the cheese and top with a small sprinkling of the seed. DELISH! (NOTE: You can also serve them on a platter already made up in this manner).
Tips:
- Choose a variety of cheeses. Aim for a mix of textures, flavors, and origins. Consider hard cheeses like cheddar and Parmesan, soft cheeses like Brie and Camembert, and spreadable cheeses like Boursin and goat cheese.
- Accompany with crackers, bread, and fruit. These accompaniments help to balance the richness of the cheese and provide different taste and texture experiences.
- Arrange the cheese plate aesthetically. Use a variety of serving platters and bowls to create height and visual interest. Place the cheeses in different sections of the plate, and surround them with the accompaniments.
- Label the cheeses. Use small signs or cards to identify each cheese, especially if you're serving a variety of unfamiliar varieties.
- Serve at room temperature. Allow the cheeses to come to room temperature for at least 30 minutes before serving. This will help them to soften and develop their full flavor.
Conclusion:
A well-crafted cheese plate is a delightful and sophisticated appetizer that is perfect for any occasion. By following these tips, you can create a cheese plate that is both visually appealing and delicious. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy appetizer, consider putting together a cheese plate. Your guests will be impressed, and you'll have a delicious and stress-free way to start your party.
