Provided by Ree Drummond : Food Network

Time 55m

Yield 8 to 12 servings

Number Of Ingredients 15

3 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting
1/3 cup powdered milk
5 teaspoons baking powder
1 tablespoon sugar
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
2 teaspoons kosher salt
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 stick cold salted butter, cut into bits, plus 1/2 stick (4 tablespoons) salted butter, melted
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup grated Cheddar
1 1/2 cups buttermilk
8 to 12 breakfast sausage patties
8 to 12 large eggs
Hot sauce, to taste
8 to 12 slices white Cheddar

Steps:

  • For the biscuits: Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F.
  • Whisk together the flour, powdered milk, baking powder, sugar, cream of tartar, salt and cayenne pepper in a medium bowl. Using a pastry cutter, cut the butter bits and shortening into the dry mixture until blended thoroughly. Mix in the cheese, then fold in the buttermilk until the dough comes together.
  • On a lightly floured surface, turn out the dough and press into a circle 1 to 1 1/2 inches thick. Cut out circles with a biscuit cutter or a glass. Place the biscuits in cast-iron skillets, then brush the tops with the melted butter. Bake until golden brown, 10 to 12 minutes, then set aside to cool a little.
  • For the sandwiches: Next, add the sausage patties to a skillet over medium heat and fry until cooked through. Set aside and keep warm. In the same skillet, fry the eggs, turning them over to cook the yolks through.
  • Now make a sandwich by cutting a biscuit in half. Put a sausage patty on the bottom half. Top with an egg, some hot sauce and a slice of cheese. Cover with the top and eat, or wrap in foil to keep warm.

BREAKFAST IN A BISCUIT

Categories     Other Breakfast

Time 30m

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 can(s) biscuits, 10 count, small
4 eggs
3 Tbsp milk
1/3 c cheddar cheese, shredded
1 c cooked sausage, bacon or ham
salt & pepper to taste

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Whisk eggs and milk together along with a pinch of salt and pepper. Roll out each biscuit until it's slightly bigger than your muffin tin. Spray the muffin tin with cooking spray and push one biscuit into each muffin cup - being sure to push it all the way down and up the sides. Divide the meat and cheese evenly in each of the biscuit cups. Pour egg mixture in, until 2/3 full. Don't overfill. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until biscuits are golden and eggs are set.
  • 2. I used sliced ham from the deli in these. You could also make these savory by adding taco seasoned meat and salsa to the eggs and cheese.

Tips:

  • Use a biscuit mix that you enjoy. There are many different brands and flavors available, so find one that you like the taste of.
  • If you don't have a biscuit cutter, you can use a glass or a cup to cut out the biscuits.
  • Be careful not to overmix the biscuit dough. Overmixing will make the biscuits tough.
  • Roll out the biscuit dough to a thickness of about 1/2 inch.
  • Use a variety of fillings for your breakfast biscuits. Some popular options include eggs, bacon, sausage, cheese, and avocado.
  • Serve your breakfast biscuits warm with your favorite sides, such as fruit, yogurt, or hash browns.

Conclusion:

Breakfast biscuits are a quick and easy meal that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. They are perfect for busy mornings or for a lazy weekend brunch. With so many different ways to make them, you are sure to find a breakfast biscuit recipe that you love.
