Time 50m

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 lb ground chuck
3 c noodles, uncooked
2 1/2 c water
8 oz can(s) tomato sauce
1 pkg dry onion soup mix (this is one envelope)

Steps:

  • 1. In large skillet, brown beef; drain. sprinkle uncooked noodles over meat.
  • 2. Combine water, tomato sauce and onion soup mix. Pour over noodles in skillet. Do not stir. Cover and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer about 30 minutes or until noodles are tender. Stir.
  • 3. Serve with a salad and French bread.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality beef. The better the beef, the better the goulash will be. Look for beef that is well-marbled and has a deep red color.
  • Brown the beef in batches. This will help to develop the flavor of the beef and prevent it from becoming tough.
  • Use a variety of vegetables. The more vegetables you use, the more flavorful the goulash will be. Some good choices include carrots, celery, onions, potatoes, and bell peppers.
  • Use a good quality beef broth. This will make a big difference in the flavor of the goulash. If you don't have any beef broth on hand, you can use chicken broth or vegetable broth.
  • Season the goulash to taste. Add salt, pepper, and other spices to taste. You can also add a bit of paprika for a smoky flavor.
  • Let the goulash simmer for at least 1 hour. This will allow the flavors to meld and develop. The longer you simmer the goulash, the better it will be.
  • Serve the goulash with a dollop of sour cream or yogurt. This will add a creamy richness to the dish.

Conclusion:

Beef goulash is a hearty and flavorful dish that is perfect for a cold winter day. It is also relatively easy to make, especially if you use a good quality beef broth. With a little planning, you can have a delicious and satisfying meal on the table in no time.
