Tips:

  • Choose fresh, tart rhubarb: The best rhubarb for baking is firm, with bright red stalks and minimal blemishes. Avoid rhubarb that is wilted or has brown spots.
  • Trim the rhubarb properly: Cut off the leaves and the tough ends of the rhubarb stalks. Then, slice the rhubarb into 1-inch pieces.
  • Use a combination of sugar and cornstarch: This will help to thicken the rhubarb filling and prevent it from becoming too runny.
  • Don't overcook the rhubarb: Overcooked rhubarb will become mushy and lose its flavor. Cook it just until it is tender, about 10-15 minutes.
  • Serve the rhubarb dessert warm or cold: It is delicious either way. If you are serving it cold, let it cool completely before refrigerating.

Conclusion:

This easy baked rhubarb dessert is a delicious and versatile treat that can be enjoyed all season long. With its simple ingredients and easy-to-follow instructions, this recipe is perfect for beginner bakers.
