EASY "BAKED POTATOES" (CROCKPOT)
If you don't want to make individual, baked potatoes, this comes out tasting just like a baked potato and will feed a crowd of people. I don't care for bacon bits so I use the bacon ranch dip mix. You can always use bacon bits if you prefer.

Steps:
- 1. Scrub the potatoes and slice them in 1/4 inch slices. In a medium bowl, combine the sour cream and dip mix; combine well.
- 2. Put the cubed butter over the bottom of the crockpot. Begin by layering items in this order: 1/4 of the cubed butter, 1/4 of the potatoes, a little salt and pepper, 1/4 of the sour cream mixture and 1/4 of the cheddar cheese; repeat the layers , ending with a final layer of cheddar cheese.
- 3. Cover and cook on low for 8 to 10 hours or until potatoes are tender.
- 4. Serve with a garnish of chopped chives or chopped green onions.
Tips:
- Choose the right potatoes: For best results, select medium-sized, unblemished potatoes with thin skin. Russet and Yukon Gold potatoes are good options.
- Pierce the potatoes: Use a fork to pierce the potatoes all over. This helps the steam escape and ensures even cooking.
- Brush with oil: Brushing the potatoes with olive oil helps them crisp up and brown in the crockpot.
- Season generously: Don't be shy with the seasonings! Salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder are all classic choices. You can also add herbs like rosemary or thyme for extra flavor.
- Cook on low: Cooking the potatoes on low heat for 4-6 hours allows them to cook through without drying out.
- Check for doneness: Insert a fork into the center of a potato. If it slides in easily, the potato is done.
- Top and serve: Once the potatoes are cooked, top them with your favorite toppings such as butter, sour cream, cheese, or chives. Serve immediately.
Conclusion:
