Number Of Ingredients 9

1 cups applesauce
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1/4 cup white wine
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 garlic clove
1/2 teaspoon grated ginger
2 tablespoons butter
1/2 medium onion, sliced
6 boneless pork chops

Steps:

  • In a bowl, combine the applesauce, sugar, soy sauce, garlic and ginger. Mix well. Pour the mixture into a greased 13" X 9" X 2" baking dish. In a skillet, melt the butter. Sauté the onions for about a minute and then brown the pork chops in the butter. When browned on both sides, place over the applesauce mixture. Bake, uncovered, in a 350 degree oven for 30 minutes or until meat is tender.

Tips:

  • Choose the right pork chops: Look for bone-in pork chops that are at least 1 inch thick. Thinner chops will cook too quickly and dry out.
  • Sear the pork chops: Searing the pork chops in a hot skillet before adding them to the slow cooker helps to develop flavor and prevent them from drying out.
  • Use a good quality applesauce: The applesauce is a key ingredient in this dish, so be sure to use a good quality unsweetened applesauce. You can also use homemade applesauce if you have it.
  • Add some spices: Feel free to add some spices to the slow cooker along with the pork chops and applesauce. Some good options include cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and allspice.
  • Serve with your favorite sides: This dish can be served with a variety of sides, such as mashed potatoes, rice, or roasted vegetables.

Conclusion:

This easy applesauce pork chops recipe is a delicious and budget-friendly meal that is perfect for a busy weeknight. The pork chops are cooked in a slow cooker with applesauce, resulting in a tender and flavorful dish. Serve with your favorite sides for a complete meal.
