EASTERN NORTH CAROLINA BBQ SAUCE

I have tried a lot of recipes of Eastern North Carolina BBQ Sauce. This is the closest to what you will find in any of the BBQ Restaurants here in North Carolina. It is on the hot side, so you may wish to adjust the cayenne pepper and Tabasco™ sauce for milder flavor.

EASTERN NORTH CAROLINA BBQ SAUCE

There are lots of BBQ Sauce recipes out there, but I love the vinegar based NC sauce. It is very wet, and is great on pulled or chopped pork. We do not like it so much on chicken.

Tips:

  • Choose the right vinegar: Eastern North Carolina BBQ sauce is traditionally made with vinegar, and the type of vinegar you use will have a big impact on the flavor of your sauce. Apple cider vinegar is a good choice for a mild, slightly sweet sauce, while white vinegar will give you a sharper, more tangy flavor. You can also use a combination of vinegars to create a more complex flavor profile.
  • Use fresh spices: Freshly ground spices will give your sauce the best flavor. If you don't have a spice grinder, you can use pre-ground spices, but be sure to use them sparingly, as they can be more potent than freshly ground spices.
  • Don't overcook the sauce: BBQ sauce is best when it is cooked low and slow. Overcooking the sauce can cause it to lose its flavor and become too thick.
  • Let the sauce rest: After you have made the sauce, let it rest for at least 30 minutes before using it. This will allow the flavors to meld together and develop.

Conclusion:

Eastern North Carolina BBQ sauce is a delicious and versatile sauce that can be used on a variety of foods. It is easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste preferences. Whether you like it mild, tangy, or spicy, there is an Eastern North Carolina BBQ sauce recipe out there for you. So fire up your grill and get ready to enjoy some delicious barbecue!
