DUTCH APPLE LOAF

Being of Dutch descent, I knew I had to try this recipe for a moist, fruity quick bread. It freezes well, so I often have a loaf on hand for church bazaars. -Gladys Meyer, Ottumwa, Iowa

DUTCH APPLE LOAF CAKE

Dutch Apple Loaf Cake image

There's plenty of recipes for this cake listed, but I think this one sounds a little different. Found it online at Taste of Home. It looks fairly simple and baked in a loaf pan. It would be a great take along for potlucks or just an easy snack for the family. Now that our apple trees are full and ripe, it's a great time to try this out. As an update, finally got around to trying this and loved it. Simple, with a nice presentation and very good. I did add a cup of chopped pecans as we love nuts and everyone enjoyed it. Don't make the mistake I did though - be aware that the divided sugar puts 3 Tablespoons in the apples and then the 1 cup goes in the batter.

Tips:

  • Use fresh, crisp apples: This will give your loaf the best flavor and texture.
  • Peel and core your apples before slicing them. This will make them easier to eat and will help the loaf bake evenly.
  • Slice your apples thinly. This will help them cook through evenly.
  • Toss your apples with sugar and cinnamon before adding them to the loaf batter. This will help them caramelize and give the loaf a delicious flavor.
  • Be careful not to overmix the batter. Overmixing can make the loaf tough.
  • Bake the loaf until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. This will ensure that the loaf is cooked through.
  • Let the loaf cool completely before slicing and serving. This will help it hold its shape.
