Tips:
- Fresh is best: Use fresh cranberries and cherries whenever possible. Fresh fruits have a more intense flavor and are less likely to be tart.
- Choose the right dried fruit: If you are using dried fruit, choose high-quality dried cranberries and cherries that are plump and moist. Avoid dried fruits that are hard or shriveled.
- Soak dried fruit: If you are using dried fruit, soak it in water for 30 minutes before using. This will help to plump it up and make it more flavorful.
- Use a variety of spices: Don't be afraid to experiment with different spices to flavor your sauce. Some good options include cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and cloves.
- Cook low and slow: The best way to make cranberry sauce is to cook it low and slow. This will help to preserve the flavor of the fruit and prevent it from becoming too tart.
- Chill before serving: Cranberry sauce is best served chilled. This will help to firm it up and make it easier to spoon.
Conclusion:
Dried cherry and cranberry sauce is a delicious and versatile condiment that can be enjoyed with a variety of dishes. It is easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste preferences. Whether you are serving it with turkey, chicken, or pork, or simply enjoying it as a snack, dried cherry and cranberry sauce is sure to be a hit.
