Categories     Vegetable

Time 20m

Yield 12 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 10

1/4 cup water
1 teaspoon cornstarch
2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 pinch nutmeg
1 pinch pepper
2 1/4 lbs frozen peas

Steps:

  • Heat and mix all the sauce ingredients (except peas) in a saucepan.
  • Stir until it boils and thickens slightly.
  • Cook peas according to instructions on the package.
  • Drain peas; add sauce to warm peas, mix and serve.
  • Peas may also be served as a cold vegetable.

Tips:

  • Choose fresh, tender peas: Look for peas that are bright green and plump. Avoid peas that are wrinkled or have brown spots.
  • Shuck the peas: Remove the peas from the pods by pinching the pod at the seam and pulling it open. If you are using frozen peas, thaw them before using.
  • Cook the peas briefly: Peas should only be cooked for a few minutes, until they are tender but still retain their bright green color. Overcooking will make them mushy.
  • Use a variety of herbs and spices: Peas are a versatile vegetable that can be paired with a variety of flavors. Try adding herbs such as mint, basil, or thyme, or spices such as garlic powder, onion powder, or paprika.
  • Serve peas as a side dish or main course: Peas can be served as a simple side dish or used as a main course when combined with other ingredients such as rice, pasta, or meat.

Conclusion:

Dressed peas are a delicious and versatile dish that can be enjoyed in many different ways. With their bright green color and sweet flavor, peas are a perfect addition to any meal. Whether you are looking for a simple side dish or a more elaborate main course, dressed peas are sure to please everyone at the table.
