Time 2h40m

Yield Makes 8 servings.

Number Of Ingredients 11

16 vanilla creme-filled chocolate sandwich cookies, divided
1 cup boiling water
1 pkg. (4-serving size) JELL-O Lime Flavor Gelatin
ice cubes
1/2 cup cold water
2 cups thawed COOL WHIP Whipped Topping
20 drops each: green and yellow food coloring
8 clear plastic cups (7 oz.)
3 Tbsp. white decorating icing
black shoestring licorice, candy corn and small hot cinnamon candies
8 wooden pop sticks

Steps:

  • Crush 8 of the cookies; set aside. Stir boiling water into dry gelatin mix in large bowl at least 2 min. until gelatin is completely dissolved. Add enough ice to cold water to measure 1 cup. Add to gelatin; stir until slightly thickened (consistency of unbeaten egg whites). Remove any unmelted ice. Add whipped topping; stir with wire whisk until well blended. Add food colorings; mix well. Refrigerate 20 min. or until mixture is very thick and will mound.
  • Spoon 1/4 cup of the gelatin mixture into each plastic cup. Top each with 1 Tbsp. of the crushed cookies; cover with 1/4 cup of the gelatin mixture. Refrigerate 2 hours or until set.
  • Spread tops of the remaining cookies with decorating icing. Decorate each to resemble Dracula's face using licorice pieces for the mouth, nose and eyebrows, candy corn for the fangs and cinnamon candies for the eyes. Insert a pop stick into side of each decorated cookie. Insert 1 into each dessert just before serving.

DRACULA'S EYES

Dracula's Eyes image

I got this recipe out of a Better Homes and Gardens magazine many years ago. Always a hit with the kids or when we take them to Halloween gatherings or work. Cook time is drying time for the peanut butter balls/melting time for the candy coating

Provided by jegrn

Categories     Candy

Time 50m

Yield 20 Eyes

Number Of Ingredients 7

1/2 cup peanut butter
3 tablespoons butter, softened
1 cup sifted powdered sugar
20 M&M's plain chocolate candy
4 ounces vanilla candy coating
red decorating gel
black decorating gel

Steps:

  • In a mixing bowl stir together peanut butter and butter.
  • Gradually add powdered sugar, stirring until combined.
  • Shape into 1-inch balls; place on waxed paper.
  • Let stand about 20 minutes until dry.
  • In a small sauce pan melt candy coating over low heat.
  • Dip balls, one at a time, into coating.
  • Let excess coating drip off peanut butter balls.
  • Place on waxed paper.
  • Immediately press an M&M into center of each peanut butter ball.
  • Let stand until coating is firm.
  • Add a dot of black gel to the center of candy pieces for pupils.
  • Drizzle red gel onto balls for bloodshot eyes.

Tips:

  • Use fresh strawberries for the best flavor and texture.
  • If you don't have a dehydrator, you can dry the strawberries in a warm oven (150°F) for 4-6 hours.
  • To make the eyes more realistic, use a small paring knife to create a small indentation in the center of each strawberry.
  • Be careful not to over-dry the strawberries, as they will become tough and chewy.
  • Store the Dracula's Eyes in an airtight container in a cool, dry place.

Conclusion:

Dracula's Eyes are a fun and easy Halloween treat that is sure to impress your guests. They are made with fresh strawberries, sugar, and lemon juice, and they are dried until they are chewy. The eyes are then decorated with white chocolate chips and red food coloring to create a realistic appearance. These spooky treats are perfect for Halloween parties, potlucks, or just a fun snack.
