Time 10m

Yield 4-6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 (20 ounce) can chunk pineapple in juice or 1 (20 ounce) can syrup
1 (11 ounce) can mandarin orange segments
1 1/2 cups seedless grapes
1 cup miniature marshmallow
1 cup flaked coconut
1/2 cup nuts
3/4 cup sour cream or 3/4 cup vanilla yogurt
1 tablespoon sugar

Steps:

  • Drain pineapple.
  • Drain oranges.
  • Combine pineapple, oranges, grapes, marshmallows, coconut, and nuts.
  • Mix sour cream and sugar.
  • Stir into fruit mixture.
  • Chill well and serve.

Tips:

  • Use fresh pineapple. Fresh pineapple has a brighter flavor and more nutrients than canned pineapple. If you can't find fresh pineapple, you can use canned pineapple in a pinch, but be sure to drain it well and rinse it before using.
  • Choose a ripe cantaloupe. A ripe cantaloupe will be fragrant and have a slight give when you press on it. Avoid cantaloupes that are too hard or too soft.
  • Use a variety of fruits. This recipe is very versatile, so you can use any combination of fruits that you like. Some popular options include oranges, grapefruit, bananas, and grapes.
  • Add some nuts or seeds for a crunchy texture. Walnuts, pecans, and sunflower seeds are all great options. If you're using nuts, be sure to toast them first to bring out their flavor.
  • Make sure the ambrosia is chilled before serving. This will help the flavors to meld and develop.
  • Serve ambrosia as a refreshing summer dessert or snack. It's also a great way to use up leftover fruit.

Conclusion:

Dole ambrosia is a classic summer dessert that is easy to make and always a crowd-pleaser.
