ENHANCE THAT JAR OF SPAGHETTI SAUCE
I never have enough sauce from just a jar alone. I also like the taste of fresh ingredients. I like to combine both in this recipe! The red wine makes all the difference. Serve on favorite noodles with mozzarella cheese and mushrooms on top.

TOMATO AND BASIL PASTA SAUCE
A delicious and fresh tasting pasta sauce. The fresh basil added at the end is essential. This sauce can be left chunky (which I prefer) or blended in a food processor to a smooth sauce. Serve spooned over cooked pasta with plenty of parmesan cheese.

Tips:
- Use high-quality canned tomatoes: Look for tomatoes that are packed in tomato juice or puree, rather than water. San Marzano tomatoes are a popular choice for their rich flavor and low acidity.
- Brown the meat: Browning the meat adds flavor and depth to the sauce. Be sure to drain off any excess fat before adding the meat to the sauce.
- Sauté the vegetables: Sautéing the vegetables in olive oil before adding them to the sauce helps to bring out their flavor and sweetness.
- Use a variety of herbs and spices: Italian seasoning, basil, oregano, and thyme are all classic herbs that pair well with tomato sauce. Feel free to experiment with other herbs and spices to create a unique flavor profile.
- Simmer the sauce: Simmering the sauce for at least 30 minutes allows the flavors to meld and develop. The longer you simmer the sauce, the richer and more complex the flavor will be.
- Taste the sauce and adjust the seasonings: Before serving, taste the sauce and adjust the seasonings as needed. Add more salt, pepper, or herbs and spices to taste.
