CHOPPED CUCUMBER AND TOMATO SALAD

Chopped Cucumber and Tomato Salad image

Here's an easy summer salad that's always a winner. There are many similar chopped salads served throughout the Eastern Mediterranean, but this version with halved sweet cherry tomatoes is especially attractive. Your own take can be a variation on this one: Feel free to use large tomatoes, chop the vegetables as small or large as you like (roughly chopped has its charms), add other herbs like basil, mint or dill, or swap the feta for mozzarella.

Tips:

  • Choose Fresh Vegetables: The fresher the vegetables, the better the flavor of your salad will be. Look for cucumbers and tomatoes that are firm and brightly colored, with no signs of blemishes.
  • Chill the Vegetables Before Serving: Chilling the vegetables before serving helps to enhance their flavor and crispness. You can chill them for at least 30 minutes or up to overnight.
  • Use a Sharp Knife: A sharp knife will help you to get clean, even slices of vegetables. This will also help to prevent the vegetables from getting bruised.
  • Add Fresh Herbs: Fresh herbs, such as dill, parsley, or basil, can add a burst of flavor to your salad. Chop them finely before adding them to the salad.
  • Use a Light Dressing: A light dressing will help to enhance the flavor of the vegetables without overpowering them. A simple vinaigrette or a yogurt-based dressing are both good options.
  • Serve Immediately: Dilled cucumber, tomato, and celery salad is best served immediately after it is made. The vegetables will start to lose their crispness if they sit for too long.

Conclusion:

Dilled cucumber, tomato, and celery salad is a refreshing and healthy side dish that is perfect for summer gatherings. It is easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste preferences. With its crunchy vegetables, tangy dressing, and fresh herbs, this salad is sure to be a hit at your next party or potluck.
