SWEET AND SOUR DESSERT SAUCE
Steps:
- Place honey in a heavy stainless steel bowl and place over low heat for just a few seconds to "loosen" it up a bit. Remove from the heat and whisk in the sour cream. Serve over anything, from pound cake to fruit. It's darned near universal.
- Note: These amounts can be adjusted to your personal taste.
EASY MIXED BERRY DESSERT SAUCE

Bring to a simmer over medium heat until the sugar has dissolved, about 10 minutes. Adjust the sweetness, adding up to 1/4 cup more (or to taste) of sugar if necessary, and cook until dissolved.
- Puree the berry mixture in a blender or food processor , return to the saucepan, and bring to a simmer. Add an additional 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice, or to taste, if necessary.

BERRY SAUCE
A fantastically versatile recipe for a thick berry sauce that goes perfect with cheesecake, waffles, ice cream, and more.

Steps:
- In a medium-sized saucepan over medium heat, place berries, 2 tablespoons sugar, lemon juice, and zest. Cook for about 5 minutes, mixing occasionally until the liquid (which is the juice released from the fruit) thickens. At any point, you can add water if the sauce it too thick, or more sugar to make it sweeter.
- In a small cup, whisk together cornstarch and water until smooth, then add it to the saucepan. Let the mixture simmer for a few minutes longer until it reaches the desired consistency. Sauce will thicken further as it cools.
FRESH FRUIT SAUCE
I used to peel the fruits when making this sauce, but not anymore. The skins help hold the juicy summer fruit together when they are left on.

SPICY DRIED FRUIT DESSERT SAUCE
One of Julia Child's holiday tips to the readers of Parade, where she wrote a recipe column from 1982 to 1985, was to "spiffy up" store-bought mincemeat with grated apple and liquor, then heat it in a saucepan to make a rich, fragrant sauce. This is a fine idea, but almost as easy is mixing up a batch of mincemeat (minus the meat) at home. The cook can control the balance of sugar, citrus and spice and also use up all the half-empty containers of dried fruit that seem to end up lurking in kitchen cabinets. This "recipe" is entirely flexible; feel free to add orange zest, walnuts, apricots or whatever you like. The sauce will be equally good on pumpkin or sweet potato pie, ice cream or baked apples.

Steps:
- Combine all ingredients except those to finish the sauce in a food processor and pulse until coarsely chopped; do not purée. Transfer to an airtight container and let rest at least 1 day, or up to 4 weeks.
- When ready to serve, transfer to a saucepan and add enough rum or other liquid to loosen. Heat until warm and bubbly. If desired, add black pepper to make the mixture more spicy. To make a richer sauce, whisk in cold butter 1 tablespoon at a time, to taste.
- Serve warm over ice cream, pumpkin pie or baked apples.

DESSERT SAUCE FOR FRUIT
Here is a simple recipe that is a little out of the mainstream. (at least for me!) It is a great topping to go with any fruit but especially great with strawberries. Use it with fruit on pound cake or on top of ice cream. It's not mine per se but I'm glad to share it with you. The pepper adds just a little "kick" to it. It is a mellow sweet taste that I have given to the most discriminating taste buds and got their compliments

Tips for Making the Best Dessert Sauce for Fruit:
- Use fresh, ripe fruit. This will ensure that your sauce is full of flavor.
- Choose a sauce that complements the flavor of the fruit. For example, a citrus sauce is a good choice for berries, while a chocolate sauce is a good choice for stone fruits.
- Don't be afraid to experiment with different flavors. You can add herbs, spices, and other ingredients to your sauce to create a unique and delicious flavor profile.
- Make sure your sauce is the right consistency. It should be thick enough to coat the fruit, but not so thick that it's difficult to pour.
- Serve your sauce immediately after making it. This will ensure that it's at its best flavor.
