Time 10h10m

Yield 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 5

4 lbs beef brisket
1 large onion, thinly sliced
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1/4 cup ketchup
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour

Steps:

  • Place brisket fat side up into slow cooker, sprinkle garlic powder on top and rub ketchup generously into brisket.
  • Add onion slices all around and on top of meat, add enough water to coat the bottom of the cooker.
  • Cook on low, all day, for the most tender brisket you will ever eat.
  • For gravy, remove brisket and turn thermostat to high.
  • Mix flour with 1/4 cup water, add to pot and bring to a boil, stirring constantly.

Tips:

  • Choose the right cut of brisket: Look for a brisket that is well-marbled with fat, as this will help to keep it moist and flavorful during cooking.
  • Trim the brisket: Remove any excess fat from the brisket, leaving a thin layer of fat on top.
  • Season the brisket generously: Rub the brisket all over with a mixture of salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  • Cook the brisket slowly and low: The best way to cook a brisket is to cook it slowly and low over indirect heat. This will allow the brisket to cook evenly and develop a tender, flavorful crust.
  • Let the brisket rest before slicing: Once the brisket is cooked, let it rest for at least 30 minutes before slicing. This will allow the juices to redistribute throughout the meat, making it more tender and flavorful.

Conclusion:

Deli-style brisket is a delicious and versatile dish that can be enjoyed in many different ways. Whether you serve it on a sandwich, in a wrap, or on a platter with your favorite sides, deli-style brisket is sure to be a hit.
