THE PERFECT MARGARITA

The Perfect Margarita image

Mastering the margarita requires a certain amount of practice, but once you dial-in your perfect ratio, it's a really easy cocktail to replicate. The classic recipe is 3 parts tequila, 2 parts triple sec, and 1 part freshly squeezed lime juice, and you should probably start off pretty close to that, but my personal favorite proportions are 4-3-2.

Tips:

  • Choose the right tequila. A good margarita starts with a good tequila. Look for a 100% blue agave tequila that is blanco (unaged) or reposado (aged for less than a year). Avoid mixtos, which are made with a blend of agave and other sugars.
  • Use fresh lime juice. Fresh lime juice is essential for a great margarita. Bottled or concentrated lime juice will not do. If you don't have fresh limes, you can substitute lemon juice, but the flavor will be slightly different.
  • Use a good quality orange liqueur. A good orange liqueur will add a depth of flavor to your margarita. Look for a liqueur that is made with real oranges, such as Cointreau or Grand Marnier.
  • Don't over-shake your margarita. Shaking your margarita too much will make it watery. Shake it just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Serve your margarita immediately. Margaritas are best served immediately after they are made. If you need to make them ahead of time, store them in the refrigerator and shake them again before serving.

Conclusion:

With these tips in mind, you're sure to make perfect margaritas every time. So next time you're in the mood for a refreshing cocktail, give this classic recipe a try. You won't be disappointed!
