DEE'S FABULOUS FRUIT SALAD

Dee's Fabulous Fruit Salad image

My Sister got this recipe in high school home ec class in the 60's. I have adapted it to make enough for our family. The original recipe was called 5 cup salad. Mine turns into a 10 cup salad. I find you still only need one block of creamed cheese, even when you double or triple all the other ingredients. It is served every...

Time 30m

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 - 8oz pkg philly creamed cheese, softened
2 large cans pineapple tidbits, drained well
3 medium cans mandarin orange segments, drained well
3 c mini marshmallows
2 c coconut, flaked

Steps:

  • 1. 1/2 hour before you start making the salad, open and drain the pineapple and oranges in a strainer separately. Let drain for 30 minutes to get all excess juice out. (I use the juice in the punch we make every holiday)
  • 2. In a large bowl thoroughly cream the creamed cheese. Add pineapple, coconut, and marshmallows. Stir together then gently stir in oranges so they don't break up (like they did in my pic). Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate until serving time. Enjoy!

PERFECT SUMMER FRUIT SALAD

Perfect Summer Fruit Salad image

The perfect fruit salad for a backyard bbq or any occasion. There are never leftovers! This is one of my favorite fruit salad recipes, as I think the sauce really makes it. This salad is tastier the longer you can let it soak in its juices. I prefer 3 to 4 hours in the refrigerator before I serve it. Enjoy.

FABULOUS FRUIT SALAD

Fabulous Fruit Salad image

From TOH magazine. I love fresh fruit--and this salad is sooo chock-full of fresh fruit, that it is well-named! I can't make the dressing for myself (due to a food intolerance), but I think it would make a tasty dressing. Cook time is the minimum of 1 hour chilling time.

Tips:

  • Use a variety of fruits. This will give your fruit salad a more interesting flavor and texture. Some good choices include berries, citrus fruits, melon, and tropical fruits.
  • Choose ripe fruits. Ripe fruits are sweeter and more flavorful than unripe fruits. They are also less likely to be sour or bitter.
  • Wash the fruits thoroughly before using them. This will remove any dirt or pesticides that may be on the surface of the fruits.
  • Cut the fruits into bite-sized pieces. This will make them easier to eat and will help to prevent them from getting bruised.
  • Add some sweetness to your fruit salad. This can be done by adding sugar, honey, or agave nectar. You can also add some citrus juice, such as lemon or lime juice, to brighten up the flavor.
  • Chill your fruit salad before serving. This will help to keep it fresh and refreshing.

Conclusion:

Dee's Fabulous Fruit Salad is a delicious and refreshing dish that is perfect for any occasion. It is easy to make and can be tailored to your own personal taste. With a few simple tips, you can make the perfect fruit salad that will be enjoyed by everyone.
