Time 35m

Yield 8

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 egg
salt and pepper to taste
1 (8 ounce) wedge Brie cheese, cut into 1 inch cubes
½ cup dry bread crumbs
3 cups oil for deep frying
1 cup cranberry sauce

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, whisk the egg with some salt and pepper using a fork. Place the bread crumbs in a separate bowl. Dip the cubes of Brie into the egg, then roll in breadcrumbs until evenly coated and well covered. Place the cheese cubes on a tray, and refrigerate for about 20 minutes, to firm up.
  • Heat oil in deep-fryer or heavy saucepan to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Fry the cheese cubes for 3 to 5 minutes, until deep golden brown. Remove with a slotted spoon, and drain on paper towels. Serve warm with cranberry sauce for dipping. You can also make these before your guests arrive, and keep them in a warm oven.

Tips:

  • Use a sharp knife to cut the apples and brie into even-sized pieces. This will help them cook evenly.
  • If you don't have a deep fryer, you can also shallow-fry the apple and brie bites in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Be careful not to overcrowd the fryer or skillet. This will cause the oil temperature to drop and the apple and brie bites will not cook evenly.
  • Cook the apple and brie bites until they are golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly. This will take about 2-3 minutes per side.
  • Serve the apple and brie bites immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.

Conclusion:

Deep-fried apple and brie bites are a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer that is perfect for any occasion. They are crispy on the outside, soft and gooey on the inside, and the combination of sweet apples and savory brie is irresistible. These bites are sure to be a hit with your friends and family.
