Categories     Sauces

Time 10m

Yield 3 cups

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 (12 ounce) can evaporated milk
2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup sugar
1 tablespoon butter or 1 tablespoon margarine
1 teaspoon orange extract or 1 teaspoon raspberry extract, if desired
1 teaspoon vanilla, instead of liqueur (For classic fudge sauce) (optional)

Steps:

  • Heat milk, chocolate chips and sugar to boiling in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly.
  • Remove from heat.
  • Stir in butter and liqueur until sauce is smooth and creamy.
  • Store covered in refrigerator up to 4 weeks.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality chocolate: The better the chocolate you use, the better your hot fudge sauce will taste. Look for chocolate with a cocoa content of at least 60%.
  • Don't overheat the chocolate: Overheating the chocolate can cause it to seize up and become grainy. Be careful not to let the chocolate get too hot when you're melting it.
  • Use a heavy-bottomed saucepan: A heavy-bottomed saucepan will help to evenly distribute the heat and prevent the chocolate from burning.
  • Stir constantly: Stir the chocolate sauce constantly while it's cooking. This will help to prevent it from burning and ensure that it's smooth and creamy.
  • Add flavorings: You can add a variety of flavorings to your hot fudge sauce, such as vanilla extract, cinnamon, or chili powder.

Conclusion:

Hot fudge sauce is a delicious and versatile dessert topping that can be used on ice cream, cakes, pies, and more. It's easy to make at home, and with a few simple tips, you can make the perfect hot fudge sauce every time.
