Recipe came from my husband's grandmother. They are much easier to make than they sound. I have halved the recipe successfully; and I have used jam instead of the cooked dates although nothing beats the original recipe.

Tips:

  • To ensure the perfect texture, use a combination of rolled oats and quick oats in your cookie dough.
  • For added sweetness and depth of flavor, incorporate light and dark brown sugar into the cookie dough.
  • Don't overmix the cookie dough, as this can result in tough cookies. Mix just until the ingredients are well combined.
  • Chill the cookie dough for at least 30 minutes before baking. This helps the cookies hold their shape and prevents them from spreading too much.
  • Bake the cookies until the edges are golden brown and the centers are set. Overbaking can result in dry, crumbly cookies.
  • Allow the cookies to cool completely before enjoying them. This allows the flavors to meld and the cookies to firm up.
