Time 40m

Yield 15-20 meatballs

Number Of Ingredients 12

1 lb ground beef
1 finely chopped onion
2 -4 garlic cloves, minced
1/4 cup whole wheat bread crumbs
1 egg
1 tablespoon ketchup
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
1/4 teaspoon dried basil
1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon real sea salt
1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil to coat aluminum foil

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375°F.
  • Place all ingredients except olive oil into a large bowl and mix together using your hands. Once it looks like the onions are well distributed throughout, you can probably stop.
  • Place a layer of aluminum foil on a rimmed baking sheet. Thinly coat with the olive oil.
  • Begin to shape the meatballs using a small handful of the mixture, placing each one on the oiled sheet pan.
  • Bake in preheated oven for about 20 to 25 minutes, until cooked through. Drain on a towel (or not).
  • Serve hot or in marinara sauce over noodles.

Tips:

  • Choose the right lentils. Brown or green lentils will hold their shape better than red lentils, which tend to break down more easily.
  • Don't overcook the lentils. They should be cooked through but still retain a slight bite.
  • Use a food processor to grind the lentils. This will help to create a smooth and consistent mixture.
  • Add plenty of flavorings. Garlic, onion, herbs, and spices will all help to give your meatballs a delicious taste.
  • Don't be afraid to experiment. You can add other ingredients to your meatballs, such as chopped vegetables, nuts, or seeds.
  • Serve your meatballs with your favorite sauce. Marinara sauce, tomato sauce, or even a simple yogurt sauce would all be great options.

Conclusion:

Dairy-free meatballs are a delicious and versatile dish that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. They are easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste preferences. Whether you are looking for a quick and easy weeknight meal or a hearty and satisfying main course, dairy-free meatballs are a great option.
