Creamy Boursin Pasta image

This recipe for Creamy Boursin Pasta is made with just 5 simple ingredients, yet flavorful, cozy, and decadent. The perfect side dish or vegetarian main dish for a delicious meal that can also be gluten free. Serves 2-3 as a main dish and 4 as a side.

Categories     Dinner     Side Dish

Number Of Ingredients 7

8 oz fettuccine pasta
2 tablespoons butter
2 cloves garlic, minced
3/4 cup heavy cream
4 ounces Boursin Garlic & Fine Herbs Cheese
kosher salt and fresh pepper to taste
fresh Italian parsley for garnish

Steps:

  • Cook pasta according to package directions and drain. Keep about a cup of pasta water just in case you need to thin out the sauce later. Meanwhile melt butter in a large saucepan and cook the garlic for a minute or two until fragrant, but not brown. Add heavy cream and bring the sauce to a simmer, about 5-7 minutes, until nice and thick. The spoon should leave a line/trail as you run it through the sauce.
  • Turn the heat to low and add Boursin cheese, stirring until melted and fully incorporated. Taste the sauce and add any kosher salt or fresh black pepper as needed. Add drained pasta and toss everything to combine. Top with parsley for garnish

DAIRY FREE BOURSIN

Dairy Free Boursin image

Finally a dairy free version of my favorite cheese-and-crackers cheese! This is from The Uncheese Cookbook and tastes amazingly like the real thing. Be careful not to over-garlic or over-spice this one, it can be overpowering, even for a garlic lover like me. Umeboshi plum paste is found at natural food stores or by mail order. Cook time includes chilling time.

Time 8h5m

Yield 1 1/4 cups

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 cup firm tofu, drained & mashed
1/4 cup soy mayonnaise
1 tablespoon umeboshi plum paste
2 -3 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon dried marjoram
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
1/4 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
1/8 teaspoon ground rosemary

Steps:

  • Throw everything into the food processor and process to a smooth paste, scraping down the sides every minute or so.
  • It will take 3-4 minutes total to get it good and smooth.
  • Chill overnight in a covered container to allow the flavors to blend.
  • (Don't even think about tasting it until then!) Serve cold or at room temperature on crackers, pasta, potatoes, etc.
  • It has a grayish color, but the flavor is out of this world.

Tips:

  • Choose the right nuts. Cashews are a popular choice for dairy-free Boursin because they have a mild flavor and blend well with the other ingredients. However, you can also use almonds, walnuts, or pecans.
  • Soak the nuts. Soaking the nuts overnight or for at least 8 hours will help to soften them and make them easier to blend.
  • Use a high-powered blender. A high-powered blender will help to create a smooth and creamy Boursin.
  • Add flavorings. You can add a variety of flavorings to your Boursin, such as garlic, herbs, spices, or lemon juice.
  • Chill the Boursin before serving. Chilling the Boursin will help it to firm up and make it easier to spread.

Conclusion:

Dairy-free Boursin is a delicious and versatile spread that can be used on sandwiches, crackers, or vegetables. It is also a great addition to pasta dishes or soups. With a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can make your own dairy-free Boursin that is just as good as the store-bought version. So next time you are looking for a dairy-free spread, give this recipe a try.
