My Husband's Favorite Baked Burgers image

Simple, flavorful hamburger recipe that my husband loves. Ketchup is the binder so no egg is required. They hold together very well. I bake them in the oven and they come out perfect every time! I serve these with a slice of cheese melted on top. Top as desired.

DAD'S COLA BURGERS

Dad's Cola Burgers image

Before you hand out the drinks, save a little soda to make these burgers. Cola helps soften the texture and kick up the flavor. Used in the meat mixture and brushed on during cooking, it takes this football favorite to another level. -Emily Nelson, Green Bay, Wisconsin

DAD'S HAMBURGER GRAVY

Dad's Hamburger Gravy image

This is one of my favorite 'cheap meal' recipes that I learned from my Southern cookin' Dad. Creamy hamburger gravy with just the right blend of spices is perfect served over homemade biscuits, mashed potatoes, rice, fried potatoes.. just about anything!

Time 30m

Yield 6

Number Of Ingredients 8

2 pounds lean ground beef
½ onion, finely chopped
5 cups milk
2 tablespoons chicken bouillon granules
2 tablespoons butter or margarine
1 teaspoon ground sage
salt and pepper to taste
½ cup all-purpose flour

Steps:

  • Crumble the ground beef into a large deep skillet over medium-high heat. Cook and stir until evenly browned. Drain most of the grease, leaving just enough to coat the pan. Add the onions, and cook for a few more minutes.
  • Pour 4 cups of the milk into the pan, and stir to scrape up any bits of food that could burn on the bottom of the pan. Mix in the bouillon, butter, sage, salt and pepper. Bring to a boil, and cook for 5 minutes, stirring frequently.
  • Mix the flour into the last cup of milk until smooth. Slowly pour into the skillet, stirring constantly. Simmer for a few minutes to thicken. If the gravy is too thick, thin with a little bit of milk. If it is too thin, simmer longer, or add more flour. Taste and adjust seasonings before serving.

Tips:

  • Use a meat grinder to grind your own beef for the hamburgers. This will give you a more flavorful and juicy burger.
  • Season the ground beef with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder before cooking. This will help to enhance the flavor of the burgers.
  • Form the ground beef into 4-inch wide, 1/2-inch thick patties. Make sure to press down on the center of each patty to create a slight indentation. This will help to prevent the burgers from puffing up in the middle when cooked.
  • Cook the burgers over medium heat for 5-7 minutes per side, or until they are cooked through. Use a meat thermometer to ensure that the burgers have reached an internal temperature of 160 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Serve the burgers on buns with your favorite toppings, such as lettuce, tomato, onion, cheese, and ketchup.

Conclusion:

Dad's Half Hamburgers are a delicious and easy-to-make recipe that is perfect for a quick and easy weeknight meal. The burgers are juicy and flavorful, and they can be topped with your favorite toppings to create a burger that is sure to please everyone at the table.
