CUTE NON-PUMPKIN RITZ JACK O' LANTERN COOKIES

Cute Non-Pumpkin Ritz Jack O' Lantern Cookies image

These are really cute I made them for a Halloween party with the nutter butter ghosts. The original recipe calls for Oreo's or ChipsAhoy which I didn't have in the house so I improvised. Pretty well anything round that tastes good covered in almond bark would be tasty:) This came from a pdf from Kraft I believe.

Time 10m

Yield 1 cookie, 1 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 7

2 Ritz crackers
1 1/2 teaspoons peanut butter
1 -2 ounce white chocolate or 1 -2 ounce orange candy melts
orange food coloring, and
red food coloring
food coloring (pens or decorator gel)
green sprinkles

Steps:

  • Sandwich peanut butter between crackers.
  • Melt almond bark.
  • Add 1 drop each of red and yellow food coloring and stir.
  • *** NOTE!= Beware! I have done this in the past with no problems but the most recent batch of almond bark began seizing on me so I had to add solid shortening, melt, and stir. Each brand is different! I used the orange candy melts to avoid this next.
  • Dip crackers let dry on waxed paper-repeat for more.
  • Before they dry I draw 2 curved lines from so they look like this ( ) to make it resemble a pumpkin.
  • While still wet stick a green sprinkle (you could use anything else to make the stem too such as cut gumdrop).
  • Draw jack-o-lantern face on with gel or food coloring pen. Enjoy!
  • Great for the kids!

EASY JACK 'O LANTERN CAKE

EASY Jack 'O Lantern Cake image

We have 3 family member birthdays in a row in mid October and I make this cake for one big celebration. I'm not sure where I first saw this, I know it wasn't in a cookbook. I'd like to think I'm creative, but I probably saw it in a magazine over 30yrs ago. It makes a very large amount of cake, so it's great for any fall party or Thanksgiving dessert. Use your imagination and creativity to make the face and stem and leaves. I have also used black tinted icing for the eyes, nose and mouth. I only have 1 bundt pan, so the time consuming part is using it to make 2 cakes. It's really a good looking center piece on a holiday or theme table.

RICE KRISPIES JACK-O'-LANTERN

Rice Krispies Jack-O'-Lantern image

This requires a bundt cake pan. It is fun and easy to make and the end result is so cute. Its great for parties because it uses four batches of the rice krispy treats recipe. Make the face with black colored icing or fondant. Orange , green and black food color will be required, I recommend using the food color paste that is used for cake decorating, buy it at the craft store.

  • Turn the bundt pan upside down, spray the inside center hole of the bundt pan , and press the green krispy mixture into the center cavity. Turn the pan back over. This will be the stem.
  • Continue coloring the marshmallows in the pot orange like before, and pour into the bundt pan like before. This will be the top half of the pumpkin.
  • Let cool, the place the krispy on top of the other, rounded side up this time to make your pumpkin shape.
  • Place the green stem on top in the center.
  • Create your jack o lanterns face with either black icing or with black fondant cut out the face and stick it on by rubbing a little water on the back of each piece and sticking it on.

GHOSTS IN THE GRAVEYARD

Ghosts in the Graveyard image

This recipe was posted in response to a request for Halloween desserts. My birthday is on Halloween, and my mom made this adorable dessert many times for my birthday parties as a child. Feel free to be as elaborate as you like with the graveyard "decorations". There's lots of fun candy out there to experiment with. I hope you and your family enjoy this as much as I did! Cook time is chill time.

Time 1h10m

Yield 16 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 8

15 Oreo cookies
3 cups cold milk
2 (3 1/2 ounce) packages instant chocolate pudding mix
1 (8 ounce) container Cool Whip, thawed
oval shaped vanilla cookies (to be used as the headstones Nabisco or Pepperidge Farm Milano work well!)
candy corn or candy corn, pupmkins
gummy worms
tubes of decorating icing (orange, red and brown are nice)

Steps:

  • Crush the oreo cookies in a plastic bag using a rolling pin, or in a food processor.
  • Pour milk into large bowl.
  • Add pudding mixes.
  • Beat with wire whisk 2 minutes or until well blended.
  • Let pudding stand 5 minutes.
  • Gently stir in 1/2 each of the whipped topping and crushed cookies.
  • Spoon into 13x9-inch dish; sprinkle with remaining crushed cookies to be the"dirt" of the graveyard.
  • Refrigerate for at least an hour or until ready to serve.
  • Decorate the remaining cookies with assorted icings to resemble tombstones,"RIP" and"BOO" are nice sayings; stand up cookies in top of dessert like graves.
  • Add candies and plastic"scary" creatures, if using.
  • Drop remaining whipped topping by spoonfuls onto dessert to resemble ghosts.
  • What works best is to make the cool-whip"ghosts" ahead on a cookie sheet and store them in the freezer until ready to use.
  • That way they don't flop over.
  • Two or three small, round dollups of cool-whip (like a snowman) make nice looking ghosts.
  • You should be able to make 2 or 3 ghosts.
  • Remove"ghosts" from the freezer and give them"eyes" and a"mouth" using the brown decorating icing.
  • Place"ghosts" in the graveyard.
  • Small plastic spiders, cobwebs, or mini monsters are a nice addition too.
  • To serve, just scoop out into bowls.
  • Store leftover dessert in refrigerator.
