1 tablespoon curry powder
3/4 cup red lentils

  • Do Ahead: Soup (without toppings) can be made 3 days ahead. Let cool; cover and chill.

Tips:

  • Use ripe and flavorful tomatoes: This will give your soup a richer, more complex flavor. You can use fresh tomatoes, canned tomatoes, or a combination of both.
  • Don't be afraid to experiment with different spices: Curry powder is a classic choice for tomato soup, but you can also add other spices like cumin, coriander, or garam masala. If you're not sure how much spice to add, start with a small amount and then adjust to taste.
  • Add a little bit of acid: This will help to balance out the sweetness of the tomatoes and give the soup a more complex flavor. You can add acid by using lemon juice, lime juice, or vinegar. You can also use yogurt or sour cream, which will also help to make the soup creamy.
  • Serve with your favorite toppings: There are many different toppings that you can add to tomato soup, such as croutons, grated cheese, or chopped bacon. You can also serve it with a side of bread or crackers.

Conclusion:

Curried tomato soup is a delicious and easy-to-make soup that is perfect for a quick and healthy meal. It is also a great way to use up leftover tomatoes. With a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can create a delicious and satisfying soup that the whole family will enjoy.
