Categories     Food & Cooking     Salad Recipes

Number Of Ingredients 5

16 cucumbers, peeled and sliced 1/4 inch thick
2 cups white-wine vinegar
1 large bunch fresh dill, roughly chopped
2 tablespoons coarse salt
3 tablespoons sugar

Steps:

  • Combine all ingredients in a large bowl; stir until sugar and salt are dissolved and cucumbers are evenly coated. Cover with plastic wrap, and place in refrigerator at least 1 hour before serving.

Tips:

  • To make the best cucumber salad, start with fresh, crisp cucumbers. Look for cucumbers that are firm and have a deep green color.
  • Use a sharp knife to thinly slice the cucumbers. This will help them to absorb the dressing better.
  • If you want a more flavorful salad, try using a variety of cucumbers. Try a mix of English cucumbers, Persian cucumbers, and Kirby cucumbers.
  • Red onion is the traditional choice for cucumber salad, but you can also use other types of onions, such as white onion or shallot.
  • To make a vegan cucumber salad, use a plant-based vinegar instead of white wine vinegar.
  • For a sweeter salad, add a little bit of honey or maple syrup to the dressing.
  • If you want a more savory salad, add a pinch of salt or pepper to the dressing.
  • Serve the cucumber salad immediately or chill it for later. The salad will keep in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
