Tips:
- For the best flavor, use ripe plantains. Look for plantains that are mostly black with a few yellow streaks.
- To make the perfect mojo sauce, use fresh citrus juice. Limes and oranges are the traditional choices, but you can also use grapefruit or lemon.
- When cooking the rice, be sure to use a heavy-bottomed pot and cook the rice over low heat. This will help to prevent the rice from sticking to the pot and burning.
- If you don't have any sofrito on hand, you can make your own by sautéing some onions, garlic, and bell peppers in a little bit of olive oil.
- To make the Cuban bowl, simply layer the rice, black beans, pork, plantains, and mojo sauce in a bowl. You can also add other toppings, such as avocado, salsa, or sour cream.
Conclusion:
The Cuban bowl is a delicious and easy-to-make meal that is perfect for a weeknight dinner or a casual lunch. It is also a great way to use up leftover rice and beans. With its combination of flavors and textures, the Cuban bowl is sure to be a hit with everyone at the table.
