TUNA TREASURE CHESTS

Tuna Treasure Chests image

You can use French rolls, sub rolls, hard rolls, etc., as long as they're the unsliced kind - best if not too soft and not too hard. Those who like their food more on the spicy side may want to throw something in to heat it up a bit. My mom has been making these for as long as I can remember, so I'm not sure what the original source is, but it's a fantastic and delicious comfort food.

Tips:

  • Mise en Place: Before starting to cook, make sure you have all the ingredients and equipment you need. This will help you stay organized and avoid scrambling during the cooking process.
  • Use High-Quality Brie: The quality of the brie you use will greatly impact the final dish. Choose a brie that is creamy and flavorful, with a nice rind.
  • Chill the Brie: Before baking, chill the brie for at least 30 minutes. This will help it hold its shape and prevent it from becoming too runny.
  • Use a Sharp Knife: Use a sharp knife to cut the brie and the puff pastry. This will help you get clean, even cuts.
  • Preheat the Oven: Make sure the oven is preheated to the correct temperature before baking the brie. This will help ensure that the brie cooks evenly.
  • Watch the Brie Closely: Keep an eye on the brie while it is baking. It can go from perfectly cooked to overcooked very quickly.
  • Serve Immediately: Brie is best served immediately after baking, while it is still warm and gooey.
