Tips:
- For the crispiest peanut bars, make sure the sugar mixture is cooked to a hard crack stage (300 degrees F/150 degrees C). This will ensure that the bars have a nice crunch.
- If you don't have a candy thermometer, you can test the sugar mixture for doneness by dropping a small amount into a cup of cold water. If the sugar forms a hard ball that holds its shape, it is ready.
- Be careful not to overcook the sugar mixture, as it can quickly burn. If the sugar mixture starts to smoke, remove it from the heat immediately.
- When stirring the sugar mixture, use a wooden spoon or heatproof spatula. Metal utensils can cause the sugar to crystallize.
- Once the sugar mixture is cooked, work quickly to stir in the peanuts and vanilla extract. The mixture will start to set quickly, so it is important to move quickly.
- Pour the peanut mixture into a greased 9x13 inch baking pan. Use a wet knife or spatula to smooth the top of the mixture.
- Allow the peanut bars to cool completely before cutting them into bars. This will help prevent them from crumbling.
Conclusion:
Crunchy peanut bars are a delicious and easy-to-make treat. They are perfect for parties, potlucks, or just a snack. With a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can be enjoying these tasty treats in no time. So next time you are looking for a sweet and satisfying snack, try making a batch of crunchy peanut bars. You won't be disappointed!
