ROOT BEER BBQ PULLED PORK - CROCKPOT

Root Beer BBQ Pulled Pork - Crockpot image

Make and share this Root Beer BBQ Pulled Pork - Crockpot recipe from Food.com.

Provided by Jdayney

Categories     One Dish Meal

Time 8h20m

Yield 10 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 8

16 ounces pork roast
1 large onion, Sliced
1 green pepper, Chopped
0.5 (12 ounce) can root beer
Old Bay Seasoning
fresh ground pepper
1 (18 ounce) bottle barbecue sauce
Frank's red hot sauce

Steps:

  • Chop onions and place half on the bottom of the crock pot. Coat the roast with Old Bay and fresh ground pepper. Place on top of the onions. Chop the green pepper and place it in the crock pot. Add the 1/2 can of root beer. Add the remaining onions.
  • Cook the above ingredients on low heat for 6 1/2 hours. Never remove the lid. After 6 hours, remove the lid enough to gently drain the juices that have accumulated.
  • Using a couple of forks, gently pull apart the pork. This should be very easy. Add the bottle of your favorite BBQ sauce and several drops of Red Hot, stir, and cook for another 1 1/2 hours (again not removing the lid). I have tried virtually all brands available in the stores and I honestly find KC Masterpiece to be the best in this recipe.
  • Serve on bun with or without cheese.

SWEET AND TANGY PORK ("PULLED BBQ PORK") CROCKPOT RECIPE

SWEET AND TANGY PORK (

Categories     Pork     Dinner

Number Of Ingredients 12

1 Med size onion, finely chopped (optional)
1 boneless pork shoulder roast OR butt(~3 pounds)(Don't use a
"loin"- they can be dry and don't shred)
3/4 C ketchup (I tend to skip the ketchup and just use one whole bottle of chili sauce, the next ingredient)
1/2 bottle chili sauce
1 C apple juice
1/4 C honey
1/4 C red wine vinegar
2 TBSP Worcestershire sauce
3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1/4 tsp red-pepper flakes (I found these in the mexican food/spices isle)
1/4 C corn starch

Steps:

  • Spread onion over bottom of 5-6qt crock-pot. Place pork roast on top of the onion(sometimes I like to spray the pot with Pam first, but it isn't nessessary). In medium size bowl, stir together ketchup, chili sauce, 1/2 cup apple juice, honey, vinegar, Wor. sauce, garlic, and pepper flakes- stir until well blended and pour evenly over pork. Cover and cook: high for 5-6hrs OR low for 10-11 hrs until pork is fork tender. Remove pork from pot and cover to keep warm. Stir together remaining 1/2 Cup apple juice and cornstarch in small cup till well blended and pour into sauce in crock pot. Stir well. Cover Pot and cook on high for 15 min or until thickened. NOW, you can either: Slice pork into thin slices and spoon sauce over top, OR shred pork using two forks(removing fat and bones) and place back in sauce, stir and serve on buns. (We top with shredded mozzarella cheese too!) I like to serve cole slaw on the side with this.

CROCKPOT BBQ PORK

This sweet-tangy sauce is a crowd pleaser. When its done cooking you can shred meat and serve on buns or leave rib meat pieces whole for a less casual meal. Either way it's finger lickin' good.

Provided by Mikki Miller

Categories     Pork

Time 8h20m

Number Of Ingredients 10

3 1/2-4 lb bonless pork ribs
1 1/2 c brown sugar
3/4 c chili sauce
3/4 c mayonaise
1 tsp minced garlic
1 tsp liquid smoke flavoring
1 small onion
seasoning salt
2 Tbsp cornstarch
1/4 c water

Steps:

  • 1. Sauce: Combine brown sugar, mayonaise and chili sauce until reasonably smooth. Add garlic and liquid smoke. Set aside.
  • 2. Cover bottom of crockpot with rib meat pieces. Cut 1/2 of onion into petal size pieces and spread on top of meat. Dust with seasoning salt to flavor. Pour 1/2 of sauce over all, then repeat for a second layer. Set crockpot on low and cook 7 to 8 hours.
  • 3. At 6 hours skim off fat. Desolve cornstarch in water and add to pot. Stir carefully. I find that this is frequently done in 7 hours so be sure to check for doneness at that time.

Tips:

  • You can use any cut of pork for this recipe, but a pork shoulder or butt roast is the best choice. These cuts are tough, but they become fall-apart tender when cooked slowly in the crockpot.
  • If you don't have time to marinate the pork overnight, you can marinate it for as little as 30 minutes. Just make sure to turn the pork occasionally so that it marinates evenly.
  • To make the barbecue sauce, you can use your favorite bottled sauce or make your own. If you're making your own, be sure to use a sauce that is thick and flavorful. You can also add a little bit of brown sugar or honey to the sauce to make it sweeter.
  • Cook the pork on low for 8-10 hours or on high for 4-6 hours. The pork is done when it is fall-apart tender and easily shreds with a fork.
  • Serve the pork with your favorite sides, such as mashed potatoes, coleslaw, or cornbread.

Conclusion:

Crockpot pork BBQ is an easy and delicious meal that is perfect for a busy weeknight or a weekend gathering. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create a flavorful and tender pork dish that your family and friends will love. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy meal, give crockpot pork BBQ a try.
