Number Of Ingredients 8

Ingredients:
2 (0.87 oz.) packets dry chicken gravy mix
1 (10.75 oz.) can cream of chicken soup
2 cups water
1 lb. boneless, skinless chicken breasts
garlic powder, salt & black pepper, to taste
1/2 cup sour cream (optional)
rice, mashed potatoes or noodles to serve over

Steps:

  • Directions: Season chicken breasts (both sides)with garlic powder, black pepper and just a tad bit of salt. Note: the chicken gravy and cream of chicken soup already have salt in them so don't go overboard on seasoning with salt (about a teaspoon should work). In your slow cooker, whisk together the gravy packets, cream of chicken soup, and water until smooth. Add the seasoned chicken breasts. Be sure to get them covered in gravy. Cover and cook on low for about 6-8 hours. Once cooked, break chicken up into chunks using a fork. Stir in sour cream (if using). Note: I think the sour cream adds a great creaminess to this so I definitely recommend adding it in! Then serve over rice, mashed potatoes or noodles.

Tips:

  • Use boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs for a leaner dish, or chicken thighs with skin for a more flavorful one.
  • Season the chicken generously with salt and pepper before browning. This will help to develop flavor in the final dish.
  • Use a variety of vegetables in your crock pot chicken and gravy. Some good options include carrots, celery, onions, potatoes, and green beans.
  • Add a can of cream of chicken soup or cream of mushroom soup to the crock pot for a richer gravy. You can also use a can of condensed milk for a creamier gravy.
  • Cook the chicken on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours, or until the chicken is cooked through and the vegetables are tender.
  • Serve the crock pot chicken and gravy over rice, mashed potatoes, or noodles.

Conclusion:

Crock pot chicken and gravy is a delicious and easy-to-make meal that is perfect for a busy weeknight. With just a few simple ingredients and a little time, you can have a hearty and flavorful meal that the whole family will enjoy. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy dinner idea, give crock pot chicken and gravy a try.
