CHICKEN IN SOUR CREAM (CROCK POT)

Chicken in Sour Cream (crock Pot) image

Sooooooooo good and soooooo easy!!! This is one you'll make time and time again! Another recipe from my Mom... I usually serve this over cooked white rice. I occasionally find that the seasoning mixture used to rub over the chicken is not enough and so I sometimes wind up mixing up more. Depends on how much chicken you actually use. Just keep the proportions the same and its fine. Enjoy!

So good and easy and the chicken is so tender. I have made this for years but I see they have a similar recipe on the Campbell soup can. I don't know who came first.

CROCK POT SOUR CREAM & BACON CHICKEN RECIPE - (4.4/5)

Crock Pot Sour Cream & Bacon Chicken Recipe - (4.4/5) image

Provided by shelliec

Number Of Ingredients 6

8 bacon slices
8 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
2 (10-ounce) cans roasted garlic cream of mushroom soup
1 cup sour cream
1/2 cup flour (all purpose or gluten free blend)
Salt and pepper to taste

Steps:

  • Place the bacon in a large skillet and cook over medium-low heat until some of the fat is rendered. Be sure that the bacon is still pliable and not crisp. Drain on paper towels. If you use this method, reduce the flour to 1/4 cup. Or don't cook the bacon and proceed with the recipe. Wrap one slice of bacon around each boneless chicken breast and place in a 4 to 5 quart crockpot. In medium bowl, combine condensed soups, sour cream, and flour and mix with wire whisk to blend. Pour over chicken. Cover crockpot and cook on low for 6 to 8 hours until chicken and bacon are thoroughly cooked. You may want to remove the chicken and beat the sauce with a wire whisk so it is very well blended. Pour sauce over chicken. Serve over rice, couscous, or wide egg noodles.

Tips:

  • For a thicker sauce, use less chicken broth and cornstarch mixture.
  • If you don't have a crock pot, you can cook this dish in a slow cooker on low for 6-8 hours or until the chicken is cooked through.
  • Serve over rice, mashed potatoes, or pasta.
  • Garnish with fresh parsley or chives before serving.
  • To make this dish ahead of time, cook the chicken and sauce according to the recipe. Then, let it cool completely and store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. When you're ready to serve, reheat the chicken and sauce in a slow cooker or on the stovetop over low heat.

Conclusion:

Crock-Pot Sour Cream Chicken is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for a busy weeknight meal. It is also a great dish to make ahead of time and reheat for leftovers. With its creamy, flavorful sauce and tender chicken, this dish is sure to be a hit with your family and friends.
