CROCK POT MAPLE HAM
This is like a poor man's maple glazed ham. We love the spiral sliced maple/honey glazed hams, but they are soooo expensive. This is a great way to make one without spending a fortune.

Steps:
- Unwrap ham and discard flavor packet.
- Rub brown sugar all over the ham and make sure to get into the slices. We want them extra tasty!
- Pour on maple syrup and pineapple juice.
- Cover and cook for 4-5 hours on low.
- Baste ham every 30 minutes and make sure to get in between the slices (though not required, I did do this).
- When ham is done, remove ham from crock pot and allow to rest on cutting board for 10 minutes before slicing.
Tips:
- Choose the right ham: Bone-in hams take longer to cook but produce juicier, more flavorful results. Spiral-cut hams cook more evenly and quickly.
- Trim the ham: Remove excess fat from the ham, leaving a thin layer to prevent it from drying out.
- Glaze the ham: A glaze adds flavor and keeps the ham moist during cooking. Use a combination of brown sugar, maple syrup, and spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.
- Cook the ham on low heat: This helps to prevent the ham from drying out and allows the flavors to develop fully.
- Cover the ham while cooking: This helps to keep the ham moist and juicy.
- Baste the ham occasionally: This helps to keep the ham evenly glazed and moist.
- Allow the ham to rest before carving: This allows the juices to redistribute throughout the ham, resulting in more tender and flavorful meat.
Conclusion:
Cooking a maple ham in a crock pot is a simple and delicious way to prepare this holiday favorite. By following these tips, you can achieve perfect results every time. Whether you choose a bone-in or spiral-cut ham, a glaze made with brown sugar, maple syrup, and spices, and cook it on low heat, you'll end up with a juicy, flavorful ham that your family and friends will love.
