Tips:

  • Soak the beans overnight or for at least 8 hours before cooking. This will help to reduce the cooking time and make the beans more digestible.
  • Use a slow cooker with a capacity of at least 6 quarts. A larger slow cooker will give the beans more room to cook evenly.
  • Add enough water to the slow cooker to cover the beans by about 2 inches. You may need to add more water during the cooking process if the beans absorb too much.
  • Season the beans with salt, pepper, cumin, and garlic powder. You can also add other spices, such as chili powder, paprika, or oregano, to taste.
  • Cook the beans on low for 8-10 hours, or until they are tender and easily mashed.
  • Once the beans are cooked, remove them from the slow cooker and mash them with a potato masher or immersion blender until they reach the desired consistency.
  • Serve the refried beans immediately or store them in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.

Conclusion:

Crock-Pot Frijoles Refritos, or refried beans, are a delicious and versatile dish that can be enjoyed in many different ways.
