CROCK POT CUBED STEAK

I got this one off the Butcher Market's website. I love cube steak and I love the crock pot so I had to try it. This was so tender you could cut it with a spoon. It's great served with mashed potatoes and green peas.

When cooked in the slow cooker, cube steak is fork tender. I love to start this in the morning and it's ready for dinner.

Categories     Steaks and Chops

Time 5h30m

Number Of Ingredients 7

6-8 cubed steaks
flour for coating
salt and pepper
beef base or beef bouillon
1 large onion - chopped
1 c mushrooms if desired
1/4 c corn starch

Steps:

  • 1. Heat enough oil in a fry pan to brown steaks. Salt and Pepper the steaks. Coat all pieces in flour. Brown each steak on both sides then put in crock pot or slow cooker.
  • 2. When done Browning steaks, saute onion in fry pan and add to crock pot. Add mushrooms now too. Put about a good Tablespoon of beef base in about 4 cups of water, along with salt and pepper to taste. Add this to crock pot, making sure you have enough liquid to cover steaks well. Turn on low and let cook for 4-6 hours until fork tender.
  • 3. I like to dip out about 2-3 cups of the liquid and put in sauce pan heat on stove top until hot. Mix cornstrach with about a cup of water and add slowly to beef liquid and stir, stir, stir until thickened. Add this to the cube steak in the slow cooker and turn up on high for about the last 30-40 minutes and allow to thicken.

Tips:

  • Choose the right cut of meat: Look for a tough cut of meat, such as chuck steak or round steak. These cuts will become tender and flavorful when cooked in the slow cooker.
  • Brown the meat before cooking: Browning the meat will help to develop its flavor and create a richer sauce.
  • Use a flavorful liquid: The liquid you use to cook the meat will infuse it with flavor. Choose a broth or stock that you enjoy the taste of, or use a combination of liquids for a more complex flavor.
  • Add vegetables and spices: Vegetables and spices will add flavor and nutrition to your dish. Choose vegetables that will hold up well in the slow cooker, such as carrots, potatoes, and onions. Use spices that you enjoy the taste of, or consult a recipe for suggestions.
  • Cook the meat on low for 8-10 hours: This will allow the meat to become very tender and flavorful. If you are short on time, you can cook the meat on high for 4-6 hours, but the meat will not be as tender.

Conclusion:

Crock-Pot cubed steak is a delicious and easy-to-make meal that is perfect for a busy weeknight. With just a few simple ingredients, you can have a flavorful and tender meal that the whole family will enjoy. So next time you're looking for a hassle-free dinner, give crock-Pot cubed steak a try!
