Tips:

  • Choose the right cut of beef brisket: Look for a brisket flat cut, which is leaner and cooks more evenly.
  • Trim excess fat: Trim off any large pieces of fat from the brisket before cooking to reduce grease.
  • Season the brisket generously: Use a combination of salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika to create a flavorful crust.
  • Brown the brisket before slow cooking: Searing the brisket in a hot skillet before transferring it to the slow cooker helps develop a rich flavor.
  • Add liquid to the slow cooker: Use beef broth, water, or a combination of both to keep the brisket moist during cooking.
  • Add vegetables to the slow cooker: Vegetables like carrots, celery, and onions add flavor and moisture to the dish.
  • Cook the brisket on low heat for 8-10 hours: This allows the connective tissues in the brisket to break down and become tender.
  • Let the brisket rest before serving: After cooking, let the brisket rest for 15-20 minutes before slicing and serving. This helps the juices redistribute throughout the meat.
