Steps:
- 1. In the insert of the crock pot, whisk together beef consume, soy sauce, dark brown sugar, sesame oil, and garlic.
- 2. Gently place your slices of beef in the liquid and toss to coat.
- 3. Turn crock pot on low and cook for 6 hours.
- 4. When done, in a small bowl, whisk together cornstarch and cooking liquid to create a slurry, pour into crock pot, stir to mix well. Cook on low for an additional 30 minutes to thicken up the sauce.
- 5. Toss in your broccoli florets then serve hot over white rice.
- 6. *Note about cooking time: Your crockpot may differ in temperature than mine, I suggest cooking this for 4 hours on your first go-round of this dish. 6 hours in the crockpot seems to be giving a lot of people "shredded" beef instead of slices, so decrease cooking time by 2 hours and go from there. Mine turned out fine with 6 hours.
Tips:
- To save time, use pre-cut beef and broccoli florets.
- For a more flavorful dish, marinate the beef in soy sauce, garlic, and ginger for at least 30 minutes before cooking.
- If you don't have a slow cooker, you can also make this dish in a Dutch oven over low heat for 8-10 hours.
- Serve the beef and broccoli over rice or noodles.
Conclusion:
This easy crock pot beef and broccoli recipe is a delicious and healthy meal that can be enjoyed by the whole family. It's perfect for a busy weeknight dinner or a casual weekend lunch. With just a few simple ingredients and a slow cooker, you can create a flavorful and satisfying dish that everyone will love.
