I love BBQ and I love easy. I put this together by trying others, mixing and matching, adding my own taste and here it is.

Time 5h25m

Yield 4 Big Eaters, 6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 16

5 lbs country-style pork ribs
1 cup chopped celery
2 cups chopped onions
1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper
1 cup ketchup
1/2 cup yellow mustard
1 cup barbecue sauce (I used John Boy and Billy's hot & spicy grillin' sauce)
1 cup water
3 tablespoons dark cider vinegar
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon garlic salt
1 (14 1/2 ounce) can diced tomatoes

Steps:

  • While I boil the pork for 20-30 minutes to decrease fat, I mix all other ingredients together in a large enough bowl and stir to mix well.
  • Put pork in the crock pot, adding sauce as you go, until you get to about an inch from the top.
  • Use as much sauce as you can as it will be needed later to put over the rice.
  • With a big spoon, give a stir to blend all together.
  • Put on the lid, turn on high and let it cook for about 5 hours.
  • After that, you may want to keep it a little longer on low to keep it hot.
  • Serve this with some white rice, baked beans (or just pork& beans), cole slaw and some toasted garlic bread and you have yourself a meal.
  • Be sure to use lots of the sauce over the pork and rice.

Time 6h20m

Number Of Ingredients 15

3 lb country style pork ribs
garlic seasoning
everglades seasoning
1 c ketchup
1 Tbsp brown sugar
4 Tbsp pure maple syrup
1 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
1 Tbsp Dijon mustard
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp onion powder
2 tsp low sodium soy sauce
1 1/2 tsp hot pepper sauce, your choice (I used Texas Pete)
1 1/2 strips of cooked bacon, chopped
dash of salt and some freshly ground pepper
mesquite liquid smoke

Steps:

  • 1. Ribs: Sprinkle both sides with the garlic powder and Everglades seasoning. Place a paper towel over top and allow to rest while you make the sauce.
  • 2. Sauce: Place all ingredients, except chopped bacon and the liquid smoke, in a saucepan. Mix well and heat stirring occasionally. Do not allow to burn. Once it begins to come to a soft boil, remove from heat, stir in bacon bits. Place the sauce in a bowl or glass measuring cup and cover with Saran Wrap. Set aside. (Do not refrigerate)
  • 3. Spray your Crock Pot with cooking spray. Place ribs in and sprinkle with the mesquite liquid smoke. I used a cap full. Cook on low for 4 1/2 hours.
  • 4. Check meat after the 4 1/2 hours. Should be a little pink. Drain the liquid and cover the ribs with the BBQ sauce and cook for another 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
  • 5. My Crock Pot cooks a little hotter than normal so you may have to adjust your times or cook until a meat thermometer reads 145°. I must add that your house is going to smell so yummy while this is cooking. Enjoy.

This delicious and easy recipe came from a TV program, Talk Of The Town, that features local cooks. It is so easy I had to give it a try. It is so good that I make it often. I added the mushrooms and sometimes add some hot sauce depending on the BBQ sauce I use.

Time 9h10m

Number Of Ingredients 5

2 lb country-style boneless pork ribs
1 medium onion, sliced
3 clove garlic, minced
2/3 c good bbq sauce
1/3 c plum jam (amount to taste)

Steps:

  • 1. Place ribs, onion and garlic in crock pot.
  • 2. Cook on low for 8-10 hours, or until pork is cooked through and tender (your time may vary with your appliance).
  • 3. Drain ribs and onion from crock pot.
  • 4. Discard any juices from crock pot and return meat and onions to crock pot.
  • 5. Stir together barbecue sauce and jam until blended.
  • 6. Pour over ribs, stirring lightly to coat.
  • 7. Cook on high for 30 minutes or until sauce has thickened and ribs are glazed.

Tips:

  • Choose the right ribs. Country-style ribs are the best choice for this recipe, as they are meatier and more flavorful than other types of ribs.
  • Trim the ribs properly. Remove any excess fat or silver skin from the ribs before cooking.
  • Use a good quality BBQ sauce. The BBQ sauce is the key to the flavor of this dish, so make sure to use a sauce that you enjoy.
  • Cook the ribs on low heat. This will help the ribs to cook evenly and prevent them from drying out.
  • Baste the ribs frequently. Basting the ribs with BBQ sauce will help to keep them moist and flavorful.
  • Let the ribs rest before serving. This will allow the juices to redistribute throughout the ribs, making them even more tender and flavorful.

Conclusion:

Crock-Pot BBQ Country Ribs are a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for any occasion. With just a few simple ingredients and a slow cooker, you can create a meal that your family and friends will love. So next time you're looking for a hearty and flavorful dish, give this recipe a try.
