CROCK POT APPLE OATMEAL

This oatmeal is so easy! I make it right before I go to bed, and I turn the crock pot off as soon as I get up. Everyone in my house loves it! Found this in 'Fix it and Forget it.' I also have to add in reference to some of the reviews, our family likes it mushy.

Time 4h15m

Yield 4-6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 11

5 large apples, tart like Granny Smith, peeled and sliced
1/2 cup orange marmalade
1 (8 ounce) can pineapple tidbits, drained, juice reserved
1/4 cup apple cider
2 tablespoons maple syrup
1/2 teaspoon sweet curry powder
1 cup flour
1/2 cup oatmeal
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
4 tablespoons cold butter, cut into pieces

Steps:

  • Mix apples and pineapple tidbits in buttered crock pot. To the reserved pineapple juice, add orange marmalade, maple syrup, apple cider and curry powder. Stir and pour over apple mixture. Cover and cook on HIGH for 1 hour.
  • To make Topping: Combine flour, oats, brown sugar and cinnamon in bowl. Cut in butter until mixture is crumbly. Spread topping over apples. Cook on LOW 2 1/2 to 3 hours until done. Let cool 10 minutes before serving.

Tips:

  • Opt for rolled oats: Steel-cut oats take longer to cook, so rolled oats are a better choice for a quick and easy breakfast.
  • Use a slow cooker liner: This makes cleanup a breeze. Simply lift out the liner and discard it after cooking.
  • Adjust the cooking time: The cooking time will vary depending on the type of slow cooker you have and the desired consistency of the oatmeal. Start with the minimum cooking time and then add more time as needed.
  • Add your favorite toppings: Oatmeal is a blank canvas for your favorite toppings. Try nuts, seeds, dried fruit, fresh fruit, or a drizzle of honey or maple syrup.

Conclusion:

Crock-Pot Apple Oatmeal is a warm, comforting, and delicious breakfast that is perfect for busy mornings. It is easy to make and can be customized to your liking. With a few simple ingredients, you can have a delicious and nutritious breakfast that will keep you full and satisfied all morning long. So next time you are looking for a quick and easy breakfast, give Crock-Pot Apple Oatmeal a try. You won't be disappointed!
