1 tablespoon canola oil
4 bone-in chicken thighs (about 1-1/2 pounds), skin removed
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
2 medium Fuji or Gala apples, coarsely chopped
1 medium onion, chopped
1 garlic clove, minced
1/3 cup barbecue sauce
1/4 cup apple cider or juice
1 tablespoon honey

Steps:

  • In a large skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Brown chicken thighs on both sides; sprinkle with salt and pepper. Transfer to a 3-qt. slow cooker; top with apples., Add onion to same skillet; cook and stir over medium heat 2-3 minutes or until tender. Add garlic; cook 1 minute longer. Stir in barbecue sauce, apple cider and honey; increase heat to medium-high. Cook 1 minute, stirring to loosen browned bits from pan. Pour over chicken and apples. 1 (3 1/2) pound fryer chicken
1 apple
1 cup apple juice
aluminum foil

  • Sprinkle salt and pepper all over the inside of the chicken. Put the whole apple inside the chicken cavity and place chicken into a slow cooker, breast-side down. Pour apple juice around chicken.

2 apples, peeled, cored and sliced
2 pounds cut up chicken pieces (with bone), with or without skin
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
2 tablespoons chopped fresh rosemary leaves
1 cup reduced-sodium chicken broth
1/2 cup cream of celery soup
2 cups cooked rice (white or brown)

Steps:

1/2 small sweet yellow onion
2 pinch rosemary, dried
1 Tbsp cinnamon
1 Tbsp sugar
1 c apple cider vinegar
1 Tbsp tony chachere's seasoning
3 c water
1 Tbsp garlic powder

  • 1. Cut the apples into slices without core. Set aside.
  • 2. Mix apple cider vinegar and water in bottom of empty crock-pot.
  • 3. Arrange the chicken breasts (you can use chicken thighs, legs, etc..also) in the bottom of crock-pot. Arrange the apple slices around and on top of chicken.
