  • 1. Preheat oven to 400 F.
  • 2. Line a 1 sheet pan with parchment paper and spray paper generously with butter flavored cooking spray.

  • 4. Toss the hash browns with salt, pepper and canola oil until evenly distributed
  • 5. Spread the hashbrowns very thinly and evenly over the parchment lined pan.
  • 6. Bake in preheated oven on the bottom rack for about 15 minutes, then flip them and bake for another 15 minutes or until desired crispness.
  • 7. Breakfast is served!

Tips for Making Crispy Hash Browns:

  • Use the Right Potatoes: Russet potatoes are the best choice for hash browns, as they have a high starch content that helps them crisp up nicely.
  • Grate the Potatoes Evenly: Use a box grater with large holes to grate the potatoes. Grating them evenly will help them cook evenly.
  • Squeeze Out Excess Moisture: After grating the potatoes, use a paper towel or cheesecloth to squeeze out as much excess moisture as possible. This will help the hash browns crisp up.
  • Use a Non-Stick Skillet: A non-stick skillet is essential for making crispy hash browns. If you don't have a non-stick skillet, you can use a regular skillet greased with cooking spray.
  • Don't Crowd the Skillet: When cooking the hash browns, don't crowd the skillet. Give them enough space so that they can cook evenly.
  • Press Down on the Hash Browns: As the hash browns cook, press down on them with a spatula to help them crisp up.
  • Don't Flip the Hash Browns Too Often: Flipping the hash browns too often will prevent them from getting crispy. Only flip them once, when the underside is golden brown.
  • Season to Taste: Before serving, season the hash browns with salt, pepper, and any other desired seasonings.

Conclusion:

Crispy hash browns are a delicious and versatile side dish that can be served with a variety of meals. Whether you're making them for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, these tips will help you achieve perfectly crispy hash browns every time.
