CRISPIX SNACK MIX
This is similar to the Chex mix but I actually like it a little better. The original recipe calls for garlic and onion salt instead of powder and salted nuts, but I find that too salty.

Steps:
- 1. In a large bowl, empty the cereal and the peanuts.
- 2. In a saucepan on the stove melt the butter, sugar, syrup and salt. Bring to a boil and boil for 5 minutes stirring constantly. Add the baking soda, stir, ingredients will foam and become frothy.
- 3. Pour mixture over the cereal and peanuts. Mix quickly but carefully. You don't want to smash all of the cereal.
- 4. Spread onto a cookie sheet lined with non-stick foil or sprayed with non-stick cooking spray.
- 5. Bake at 200 degrees for one hour, turning mix over every 15 minutes. Note: The original recipe calls for baking 1 hour, I cut it down to 30 minutes the second time because we like it to still have the sweet chewy texture.
- 6. When mix has cooled, add the M&M's.
- 7. Note: Very versatile recipe! You can use dark or milk chocolate M&M's, or even try the Pretzel M&M's. I've also tossed a cup or so of pretzels into this as well.
Tips:
- Use fresh ingredients for the best flavor.
- If you don't have Crispix cereal, you can use another type of crispy rice cereal.
- You can add or remove ingredients to suit your taste.
- For a sweeter mix, add more chocolate chips or candy.
- For a spicier mix, add some chili powder or cayenne pepper.
- Store the snack mix in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks.
Conclusion:
Crispix snack mix is a delicious and easy-to-make snack that is perfect for parties, potlucks, or just a quick snack at home. It is also a great way to use up leftover cereal. With its sweet and salty flavor, this snack mix is sure to be a hit with everyone who tries it. So next time you need a quick and easy snack, give Crispix snack mix a try. You won't be disappointed!
