Time 25m

Yield 15 ounces, 8-10 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 7

15 ounces raw almonds, skin on
1 1/2 tablespoons olive oil
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground sea salt
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon J&D original bacon salt
1 dash Accent seasoning (optional)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 325.
  • Place nuts in a medium size mixing bowl and drizzle oil over them.
  • Add seasonings. Flip a dozen or so times to coat well, then spread on a cookie sheet with rimmed edge.
  • Place in oven for approximately 20 - 30 minutes, stirring and turning over every 3-5 minutes for even browning and to prevent burning.
  • Remove from oven and and lay to rest on paper towels until cool. Be warned, nuts may seem warm to fingers, but still be too hot for the tongue! When cool, serve and enjoy. Store in a can, jar, or tightly sealed plastic bag.

Tips:

  • Use raw almonds: Raw almonds are the best choice for this recipe, as they will absorb the flavors of the spices and herbs better than roasted almonds.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan: When roasting the almonds, make sure to spread them out in a single layer on the baking sheet. This will help them to cook evenly and prevent them from steaming.
  • Watch the almonds carefully: Almonds can burn easily, so it's important to keep an eye on them while they are roasting. Stir them frequently and remove them from the oven as soon as they are golden brown.
  • Let the almonds cool completely: Before storing the almonds, let them cool completely. This will help them to crisp up and prevent them from becoming chewy.
  • Store the almonds in an airtight container: Once the almonds are cool, store them in an airtight container in a cool, dry place. They will keep for up to 2 weeks.

Conclusion:

These crisp, savory almonds are a delicious and versatile snack that can be enjoyed on their own or added to salads, yogurt, or trail mix. They are also a great addition to cheese plates and charcuterie boards. With just a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can make these almonds at home and enjoy them all week long.
