1/3 cup sugar
1/3 cup rice vinegar
1/3 cup water
1 teaspoon each salt, garlic powder and pepper
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1 teaspoon reduced-sodium soy sauce
1 small garlic clove, minced
1/2 teaspoon minced fresh gingerroot
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper, optional

1 English cucumber
1 carrot
1 cup radish, thinly sliced
1/3 cup white onion, thinly sliced
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
4 teaspoons rice wine vinegar
1 teaspoon brown sugar, packed
1 teaspoon soy sauce
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1/4 teaspoon hot pepper sauce

Steps:

  • Halve cucumber lengthwise; seed and thinly slice crosswise. Place in bowl.
