Yield Makes 4 to 6 servings
Number Of Ingredients 11
Steps:
- Toss shrimp with Creole seasoning in medium bowl to coat. Heat 1 tablespoon oil in heavy large skillet over high heat. Add sausage pieces, cut side down. Cook until browned on both sides, about 5 minutes. Transfer sausage to bowl. Add shrimp to skillet; cook until browned and just opaque in center, about 3 minutes. Transfer to bowl with sausage. Add remaining 1 tablespoon oil, onion, bell pepper, and thyme to skillet. Sauté until vegetables are beginning to soften, about 5 minutes. Add broth, mustard, and vinegar. Stir until sauce thickens, about 2 minutes. Return sausage and shrimp to skillet. Simmer until heated through, stirring occasionally, about 1 minute. Season with salt and pepper.
Tips:
- Choose the right shrimp: Use large, fresh shrimp for the best results. If using frozen shrimp, thaw them completely before cooking.
- Prep the andouille sausage: Slice the andouille sausage into 1-inch pieces. If the sausage is particularly thick, you can also slice it in half lengthwise before cutting it into pieces.
- Marinate the shrimp and sausage: In a large bowl, combine the shrimp, andouille sausage, olive oil, Creole seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper. Toss to coat. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to overnight.
- Skewer the shrimp and sausage: Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Soak wooden skewers in water for at least 30 minutes before using to prevent them from burning. Thread the shrimp and sausage onto the skewers, alternating between the two.
- Grill the skewers: Grill the skewers for 8-10 minutes, turning once, or until the shrimp are cooked through and the sausage is browned.
- Serve with your favorite dipping sauce: Serve the skewers with your favorite dipping sauce, such as Creole remoulade, cocktail sauce, or tartar sauce.
Conclusion:
Creole Shrimp and Andouille Skewers are a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer or main course. They are perfect for a party or a weeknight meal. The shrimp and sausage are marinated in a flavorful Creole seasoning and then grilled to perfection. Serve them with your favorite dipping sauce and enjoy!
