Tips:

  • Use a variety of vegetables: The more vegetables you use, the more flavorful your sauce will be. Try using a mix of hearty vegetables, like carrots and potatoes, with softer vegetables, like tomatoes and zucchini.
  • Roast your vegetables: Roasting vegetables brings out their natural sweetness and flavor. If you have time, roast your vegetables before adding them to the sauce. You can also use pre-roasted vegetables from the store.
  • Use a good quality olive oil: Olive oil is a key ingredient in many Italian sauces. Choose a good quality extra virgin olive oil for the best flavor.
  • Season your sauce to taste: Every palate is different, so season your sauce to taste. Start with a small amount of salt and pepper and add more to taste.
  • Let your sauce simmer: Simmering allows the flavors to meld together and develop. Let your sauce simmer for at least 30 minutes, or longer if you have time.
