CREAMY SWISS STEAK
"When I was working, I'd put this Swiss steak in the slow cooker before I left for the day," recalls Gloria Carpenter of Bancroft, Michigan. A creamy mushroom sauce made with canned soup nicely flavors the tender round steak. "It's delicious and so simple to make."

Tips:
- Tenderize the Meat: Use a meat mallet or the back of a heavy knife to tenderize the steak, breaking down the tough fibers and making it more tender.
- Brown the Steak: Before braising, brown the steak in a hot skillet to develop a rich, flavorful crust that will infuse the sauce with flavor.
- Use a Good Quality Swiss Cheese: The type of Swiss cheese you use will greatly impact the flavor of the dish. Opt for a flavorful and creamy Swiss cheese that will melt smoothly into the sauce.
- Simmer Low and Slow: Braising is a slow-cooking method that allows the flavors to meld and develop. Simmer the steak in the sauce over low heat for at least 1 hour or until the meat is tender and fall-apart.
- Serve with Mashed Potatoes or Noodles: Creamy Swiss steak pairs perfectly with mashed potatoes or noodles, which can soak up the delicious sauce.
