Time 10m

Number Of Ingredients 9

2/3 c apple cider vinegar
1 1/2 c sugar or other powdered sweetener
1/4 c onion, chopped
1/2 tsp dry mustard
2 tsp salt
3/4 c mayonnaise
1/4 c fresh orange juice
3/4 c light oil
1 Tbsp poppy seeds

Steps:

  • 1. Place all the ingredients except the oil and poppy seeds in a blender.
  • 2. Turn the blender on and process, then remove the lid and add the oil in a slow stream.
  • 3. When the oil is all gone, process for a few more minutes.
  • 4. Turn the blender off and put the dressing in a jar, add the poppy seeds and give it a good stir.
  • 5. Cover and put in the fridge until you are ready to use this.
  • 6. Enjoy!

Tips:

  • Choose fresh, plump poppy seeds. Older poppy seeds can be bitter and less flavorful.
  • Use a good quality mayonnaise. A cheap, low-quality mayonnaise will not taste as good and will not emulsify as well.
  • Add a little bit of sugar to balance out the acidity of the vinegar. You can also use honey or maple syrup if you prefer.
  • If you don't have any celery seeds, you can use caraway seeds instead.
  • This dressing is best made ahead of time and allowed to chill for at least 30 minutes before serving. This will allow the flavors to meld and develop.

Conclusion:

Creamy poppy seed dressing is a versatile dressing that can be used on a variety of salads, fruits, and vegetables. It is also a great dipping sauce for chicken, fish, and shrimp. With its sweet and tangy flavor, creamy poppy seed dressing is sure to please everyone at your table.
